The Ministry of Defence has announced that the investigation board set up to probe the August 6 helicopter crash has officially begun its work and has 30 days to submit its findings.
In a statement dated August 25, 2025, Acting Minister of Defence Dr Cassiel Ato Forson said the board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with members drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The ministry further revealed that the United States is supporting the process by providing technical advice through visiting investigators from the US Air Force. The board may also invite other experts and institutions, both local and international, to assist with the inquiry.
The helicopter crash occurred on August 6, 2025. On the same day, a preliminary investigation team was tasked to gather evidence to support the work of the main board. That team is expected to present its findings to the board today.
