In a solemn and emotional ceremony, Dr. Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed were laid to rest at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra. The two were among the eight gallant men who tragically lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash that shook the nation.

Family members, government officials, military personnel, and loved ones gathered to pay their final respects to the fallen statesmen, both of whom served Ghana with dedication and distinction.
Their burial, marked by military honours and Islamic rites, reflected the deep respect the nation holds for their service and sacrifice.

Ghana continues to mourn their loss, even as their memory is etched into the country’s history as patriots who gave their all in the line of duty.
Dr Murtala Mohammed was the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

President John Mahama prayed for God’s mercy and a place in Paradise for the late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Lumina.
Speaking at their burial on Sunday, August 10, at the TseAddo Military Cemetery, the President said, “Today is not a day for talking, and I find it very difficult to find words to speak, and so I just say thank you and may God grant them Paradise and may the memory of them guide us too.”
