President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed government’s commitment to deepening partnerships that advance Ghana’s digital transformation, as he received a delegation from Huawei Ghana at the Jubilee House on Thursday.

The delegation, led by Huawei’s Country Director, was accompanied by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George (MP).

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in critical areas such as connectivity, cloud computing, digital sovereignty, and the expansion of rural telephony networks. Huawei also pledged to scale up its investments in ICT infrastructure to support Ghana’s national development agenda.

President Mahama commended Huawei for its long-standing partnership with Ghana, noting that technology remains central to his administration’s plan to build inclusive opportunities, enhance national security systems, and accelerate economic growth.

“Digital transformation is not just about infrastructure but also about creating opportunities for every Ghanaian. We welcome Huawei’s support in ensuring Ghana takes its place as a digital leader in Africa,” the President stated.

For his part, Ghana’s Communication Minister, Samuel Nartey George underscored the importance of aligning private sector innovation with government’s policy framework under the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations. He stressed that Huawei’s global expertise makes it a strategic partner in Ghana’s digital acceleration journey.

Huawei’s Country Director expressed gratitude to the President and the Minister for their continued support. He reiterated the company’s vision to position Ghana as a digital hub in Africa, with particular emphasis on AI, cloud computing, rural connectivity, and youth digital skills training.

The courtesy call, officials said, reflects a shared determination by government and private sector partners to fast-track Ghana’s technology-driven future, in line with the country’s digital transformation agenda.
