At the sidelines of this year’s International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) in Accra, the Africa Coalition for Tuberculosis (ACT-Africa) has honoured the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and its partners for their outstanding contribution to the fight against tuberculosis.
The recognition celebrates GBC’s consistent reporting and sustained public education campaigns on TB, reinforcing its role as a key media partner in national health advocacy.
The ACT-Africa Dinner and Awards Night partnered by Delft Imaging—held alongside the 23rd ICASA, brought together partners, community groups, and TB-focused organisations from across Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria. The event celebrated institutions and individuals whose work is driving progress toward ending TB on the continent.
Vice Chair of Stop TB Geneva, Chief Austin Obiefuna Arinze, called for stronger collaborations, especially at the community level, to accelerate efforts toward achieving the global target of ending TB by 2030.

GBC received commendation for its exemplary public-health reporting and its commitment to amplifying community voices, priorities, and lived experiences in the national TB response.
Other honourees included the Stop TB Partnership Ghana, the National TB Programme, Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, the Ghana TB Voice Network, the Global Fund’s Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) Department, the Ministry of Health, Delft Imaging, Afro Global Alliance, and the Stop TB Partnership.

These organisations were recognised for strengthening TB advocacy networks, empowering communities, championing domestic resource mobilisation, deploying AI-driven innovations in diagnosis, and providing sustained leadership in community engagement and capacity building.
The awards underscored a shared commitment to building a stronger movement of TB champions across Africa and advancing the continent’s efforts toward ending tuberculosis for good.
