Homes were set on fire and residents fled the Kpatinga in the Northern Region’s Gushegu Municipality following clashes between two individuals claiming to be the rightful claimants to the Kpatinga skin and the right to enskin sub-chiefs.
To this end, the Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery, has on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, renewed the Curfew hours imposed on Kpatinga and its environs.
The curfew starts from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m., effective Friday, February 24, 2023.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the government of Ghana continues to express its appreciation to the chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, elders, and people of the area and also appealed to them to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them.
The Interior Minister again called on all to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Again, there is a total ban on all persons in Kpatinga and the surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapon.
Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted, a portion of the statement read.
