Krachi West MP lauds government’s National Apprenticeship Programmme

The Member of Parliament for Krachi West, Helen Adwoa Ntoso, has commended the government for implementing the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), saying it addresses youth unemployment concerns.

According to the MP, the initiative to enrol the youth into the programme has come at the right time when the country is faced with youth unemployment.

Speaking at a toolkit presentation ceremony for the first batch of beneficiaries in Krachi West Municipal, she urged apprentices to seize the opportunity to enhance their skills, enabling them to support the country’s development

The former Volta Regional Minister urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme to equip themselves so the government can fall on them whenever master craft trainers are needed.

She also urged the remaining apprentices to remain calm for their time of receiving the toolkits slip in the pipeline.

Also present at the ceremony was the Oti Regional Director for the National Apprenticeship Programme,Michael Nyurekyo Mampah, who encouraged both master craft persons and apprentices to use the opportunity judiciously to empower their future careers.

He encouraged master craft persons and apprentices to utilize the programme for future career growth.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Prosper Kwaku Addo also cautioned master craft persons against poor implementation of the toolkits since it could undermine the progress of the programme,calling for the need for commitment,discipline, and hard training throughout the phase of the programme.

Mr. Addo said the initiative is expected to boost vocational development and stimulate local economic growth when the  programme is being taken seriously and further appealed to parents and guardians to support the apprentices to succeed.

In the Krachi West Municipality,six master craft trainers, and 30 apprentices are benefiting from the first batch of the programme.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for the opportunity given to them and pledged to dedicate full-time to the programme to improve their skills.
