Information reaching GBC Digital Platforms indicates that the presidential candidate and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr Kofi Akpaloo, has been arrested at his Kumasi residence by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Family sources, in a media interview, said they are yet to be informed of the reason for his arrest, adding that his current whereabouts remain unclear.
EOCO has not yet released an official statement on the matter, and efforts to get confirmation from the anti-graft agency have so far been unsuccessful.
Mr Akpaloo, who contested in the 2024 general elections, is a familiar figure in Ghana’s political landscape. He has campaigned on policies aimed at appealing to young voters, and although his party is relatively small, it has steadily gained visibility in national politics.
