President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the Government of Ghana have expressed deep gratitude to Ghanaians and the international community for the support shown after the tragic helicopter crash of August 6, which claimed eight lives.

‎In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, signed by government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President and his team said they were touched by the solidarity of citizens, traditional leaders, clergy, Muslim clerics, civil society, political leaders, security services, and the diplomatic community.

‎“Your messages of sympathy, attendance at the state funeral, and acts of kindness towards the bereaved families have provided great comfort in this time of sorrow,” the statement said.

‎The government also extended special thanks to individuals and corporate bodies that helped ensure the victims received a dignified state funeral and a burial that honoured their memory.

‎Following the conclusion of the funeral rites, the Chief of Staff has directed that national flags at all public buildings be returned to full mast.

‎President Mahama urged Ghanaians to remain united as the nation continues its efforts at “Resetting Ghana and building the country we want.” He also called for continued support and prayers for the families of the departed.

‎“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace,” the message concluded.
