Man, 54 dies trying to escape ENRH covid center

A fifty-five-year-old man has met his untimely death whilst trying to escape from the ENRH covid center in Effia near Sekondi.

The deceased, Paulus Okine was referred to the covid center from the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department yesterday 18th August 2021.

On Thursday, August 19, security personnel at the covid center reported that he spotted the Okine leaving the center.

According to the security personnel he inquired from Okine why he was leaving and Okine warned the security man to stay away and not pursue him or he will harm him. 

After a while, he was found dead near the nurse’s quarters close to the hospital.

Clinicians from ENRH have confirmed the victim dead and the case has been reported to the Sekondi District Police command who joined management to the scene this morning from where the body has been deposited at the hospital morgue.

Recounting the sad development to Twin City Radio News in Sekondi, The Deputy Director of Nursing Services of the hospital, Madam Justina Amo Yartey advised the public to observe the covid protocols because the disease is real adding that to her, the victim was leaving the covid center in denial that he has contracted the disease.
