The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim (MP), has extended warm New Year greetings to Ghanaians, calling for renewed commitment to national development as the country ushers in 2026.

In a New Year message issued on January 1, 2026, the Minister acknowledged the vital role of traditional authorities, religious leaders, sector stakeholders and local communities, describing them as indispensable partners in Ghana’s development journey.

Reflecting on the recently celebrated Christmas season, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim noted its deep spiritual significance, describing the birth of Jesus Christ as “humanity’s most profound symbol of hope and divine restoration.” He urged Ghanaians to carry forward the values of grace, renewal and purpose into the new year.

The Minister said the message of the Nativity aligns strongly with government’s Reset Agenda, which he described as a commitment to a fresh beginning for Ghana. According to him, the agenda is anchored on accountability, fiscal discipline, community empowerment and recognition of the contributions of traditional and religious institutions to national cohesion and social development.

“For us in government, the message of the Nativity is a powerful catalyst for our Reset Agenda,” he stated, adding that just as the birth of Christ ushered in a new era, the Reset Agenda seeks to reposition Ghana for sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that the national renewal agenda is felt at the grassroots, emphasizing that development must reach every district and traditional area across the country.

He expressed optimism that by aligning governance with the values of peace, humility and service, Ghana can achieve a more equitable and prosperous society.

The Minister encouraged Ghanaians to enter 2026 with confidence and hope, assuring them that collective effort will lead to better days ahead.

He concluded by wishing the nation a peaceful and productive New Year, and invoked God’s blessings on Ghana.
