The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has commended Ghana Post for its remarkable transformation, innovation, and renewed commitment to service excellence.
The Minister gave the commendation when he addressed management, staff, and union representatives during a staff durbar held at the company’s headquarters. He praised the company’s progress, describing it as a reflection of effective leadership and unity.
“It is clear to me that in Ghana Post, things are not just going well; they are going very well,” he remarked.
The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram attributed Ghana Post’s success to the strengthened relationship between management and the workers’ union, which he said has contributed significantly to productivity and excellence. According to him, “the recipe for productivity and excellence is unity between leadership and staff.”
He further urged Ghana Post to retool its operations to focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. He encouraged management to consider adopting electric bikes and vehicles for last-mile delivery to help reduce carbon emissions. “We must begin to think green,” he said.
The Minister also challenged Ghana Post to expand its operations beyond the domestic market by exploring international delivery routes. He noted that such innovation could open new revenue streams for the postal service, saying, “We need to begin exploring new delivery routes — Japan, the UK, and elsewhere. That’s how Ghana Post can diversify and build resilience.”
Sam George concluded his remarks by congratulating Ghana Post on its recent election to the Council of Administration of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), describing it as a milestone that elevates Ghana’s image in the global postal community. “You are flying the red, gold, and green high,” he said.
The Managing Director of Ghana Post, Ms. Rita Sraha, also highlighted the company’s recent achievements, including the delivery of over 72,000 new chip-embedded passports nationwide, as well as bank cards, driver’s licenses, and other secure documents. She added that Ghana Post is partnering with e-commerce platforms to expand parcel delivery and increase revenue.
“Our progress shows what teamwork and discipline can achieve,” the MD said. “Together, we will continue building a Ghana Post that stands tall across Africa and beyond,” she added.
Ghana Post has, in recent years, gained international recognition, winning the 2025 Quality Management Silver Award and the 2024 Customer Care Award, where it placed second in Africa and sixth globally.
