The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) says it is actively monitoring the welfare of a seven-year-old girl from Mamobi who sustained severe burns after allegedly being punished for bed-wetting nearly two months ago.
According to the Ministry, continuous engagement with the child’s family has been ongoing since the incident was reported, with officers from the Domestic Violence Secretariat and the Social Protection Directorate maintaining regular contact to track her recovery and ensure she receives the needed support.
The follow-up visits were carried out on the directive of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who instructed the leadership of the two directorates to visit the home, assess the child’s condition and ensure that all her recovery and welfare needs are being met.

During the visits, officials assured the family of government’s commitment to supporting them through the healing process, adding that the child’s physical and emotional well-being remains a priority.
MoGCSP reiterated that the Mamobi case, like all other reported incidents of child abuse and domestic violence, will be pursued through the appropriate legal and welfare processes until justice is served.
The Ministry further called on the public to remain alert, report all forms of abuse and help protect the rights and safety of children across the country.
