More than GH¢ 3.5 million raised for children of August 6 helicopter crash victims

Donations to the Children’s Support Fund established for the welfare of the children of victimss of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash have exceeded GHS 3 million.‎

‎According to the Presidency, the total contributions so far amount to GHS 3,576,600.00 and US$20,000.00. The Fund was set up to provide long-term support and cater for the welfare of the children left behind after the tragic incident.

A statement issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, revealed that between August 19 and 28, several organizations and individuals made contributions to the initiative. Notable donors are Ghana Airport Ltd, ARB Apex Bank PLC, STL Foundation, Olam Agric, Fidelity Bank Ghana, ADB Bank, GLICO General Insurance, and the National Insurance Commission. Additional support also came from individual donors.

‎Senior Presidential Advisor and Coordinator of the Fund, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, said the names of donors will continue to be published weekly to ensure transparency. She also encouraged the public and institutions to contribute through dedicated Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited accounts.‎

‎Cheques and bank drafts are to be made payable to the Children Support Fund 6825.

‎The Fund was launched following the tragic crash to ensure the education and welfare of the victims’ children are secured.
