A domestic fire outbreak at Ohwim Asore Nkwanta in the Kumasi Metropolis has claimed the lives of three persons.

The three are a 37-year-old mother of three and two of her children, aged nine and seven, who are all boys.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), DO3 Peter Addai, who confirmed this to GBC’s Nicholas Osei-Wusu in Kumasi, said his outfit received the distress call about the incident after midnight on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

According to him, the woman was sleeping with her three children, including a girl.

He said it was the girl child who, due to the unusual heat in their room, woke up and first detected that their six-bedroom was on fire and managed to escape.

However, the mother and her two siblings were trapped in their bedroom when they were unable to open the door to their room.

The Regional Fire PRO noted that it took reinforcement from the Breman Fire Station to augment those from the Suame Station to subdue the inferno, after which the charred bodies of the three occupants were discovered in the remnant.

DO 3 Addai said the bodies have since been handed over to the police, who, in turn, have deposited them at the morgue for preservation pending investigation.

Meanwhile, DO3 Addai has debunked media reports that the deceased woman was pregnant, attributing his source to the husband.
