MultiChoice Ghana has clarified that it has not agreed to any reduction in DStv subscription prices, despite government’s recent directive for urgent stakeholder engagement on the matter.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 5, 2025, the company acknowledged the remarks made by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, regarding the establishment of a Working Committee to review DStv pricing.
MultiChoice said it remains committed to participating fully in the committee’s work and is engaging with the Minister to find an “amicable solution that is beneficial for all parties involved but does not jeopardize the viability of the DStv service.”
However, the pay-TV operator stressed: “We wish to clarify that MultiChoice Group has not agreed to a price reduction.”
The clarification follows government’s rejection of a 30-day extension request from MultiChoice earlier this week, instead granting the company 14 days to work with regulators and stakeholders to propose a suitable pricing structure.
MultiChoice’s position signals that while it is willing to cooperate with government, discussions over potential price adjustments are still ongoing, with no final agreement reached.
The Working Committee, chaired by the Minister, is expected to conclude its work by September 21, 2025, and submit recommendations aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring affordability in Ghana’s digital services sector.
