The Nabdam District Assembly in the Upper East Region has disbursed a total of GH¢147,089 to support 107 persons living with disabilities (PWDs) following a comprehensive needs assessment exercise conducted earlier this year. The initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare and economic empowerment of individuals with disabilities across the country.
At a brief presentation ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Francis Tobig, commended the beneficiaries for their patience throughout the assessment process. He urged them to make judicious use of the funds, stressing that “the support was intended to strengthen their livelihoods and enhance their independence.” According to him, the Assembly remains committed to creating inclusive opportunities that ensure no one is left behind in the district’s development agenda.

Mr. Tobig further encouraged beneficiaries to invest the money in viable ventures or tools that would directly improve their income-generating activities.
“The Assembly would continue to monitor and provide technical guidance to ensure the support yields sustainable outcomes,” he pledged.
The Chairman of the Ghana Federation of Disabled in the Nabdam District, Solomon Ndoyene Bugre, expressed profound gratitude to the government and the Assembly for the assistance.

“The funds would make a meaningful difference in the lives of members, many of whom face significant financial and mobility challenges. I’m therefore calling for continued strengthening of such interventions to empower more persons living with disabilities,” he concluded.
The disbursement is expected to boost economic participation among PWDs in the Nabdam District and promote their social inclusion.
