The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 32-year-old woman believed to be a key figure in drug trafficking during a special operation at Budumburam in the Central Region.
The operation, carried out on Friday, January 16, 2026, formed part of NACOC’s nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and drug abuse. The exercise covered Budumburam and surrounding communities in the Gomoa East Municipality.
According to NACOC, the raid led to the seizure of several illicit drugs and the arrest of individuals suspected of being involved in drug-related activities.
Among those arrested was Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother.” Opinion leaders in the area described her as a notorious drug dealer who had managed to evade arrest for a long time.
NACOC said the suspect had been on the radar of its intelligence and surveillance team due to her alleged involvement in various drug trafficking activities. The Commission also revealed that it had received several complaints from the public about the illegal activities of some of the suspects currently in custody.
During the operation, officers seized quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, as well as items believed to be linked to drug peddling.
NACOC has assured the public of its commitment to making Ghana a drug-free nation. The Commission added that all suspects arrested during the raid will be processed and arraigned before court in accordance with the law.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts by NACOC to clamp down on drug-related crimes across the country.
