The Supervising High Court Judge of the Koforidua High Court, His Lordship Justice George Krofa Addae, has sworn in the newly elected Eastern Regional Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) at the Koforidua High Court in the Eastern Region.
The executives first took the official oath and then swore the oath of allegiance. His Lordship Justice Krofa Addae advised the executives to always serve journalists with integrity and humility. He noted that their swearing-in signifies the official and legal recognition of their election into office. He urged them to always serve the interests of journalists and to coordinate effectively between journalists in the Eastern Region and the GJA National Executives.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of the GJA, Stephen Ampem Darko Koranteng, pledged to work with all journalists in the region to strengthen their capacity, ensure their safety and welfare, and foster stronger collaborations with stakeholders, including civil society, traditional authorities, and government agencies.
Mr. Ampem Darko Koranteng reiterated that he would prioritise mentorship and capacity-building for young reporters, promote ethical journalism, and ensure that the voice of the Eastern Region is heard, respected, and impactful in national conversations.
“To my fellow journalists, I will need your support in helping to build a formidable and vibrant GJA in the region — one that is accorded the dignity and respect we deserve as journalists,” Mr. Ampem Darko Koranteng said.
He concluded by reechoing a timeless truth: journalism is not just a profession but a pillar of democracy, urging journalists to rise to this responsibility with pride and purpose.
