Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on Ghanaians to embrace compassion, togetherness, and justice in her Easter message shared on her official social media pages on Friday, April 18, 2025.

As Christians across the country and beyond observe the Easter festivities—marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ—Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged citizens to reflect on the core values of empathy, inclusiveness, and national unity.

“I send my warmest Easter greetings to all Ghanaians as we join Christians around the globe in celebrating this sacred season,” she wrote.

“Let this moment inspire us to reaffirm our collective resolve to build a more compassionate and equitable Ghana—one that listens, uplifts, and makes room for every voice. I wish everyone a peaceful and meaningful Easter.”

The message marks the Vice President’s second public statement since undergoing medical treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and continuing her recovery in the United Kingdom.

Just last week, Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was recovering well following a period of medical leave and had been advised by her doctors to rest abroad briefly. He assured the public that she would soon return to her official duties.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, a renowned educationist and the first woman to become Vice-Chancellor of a public university in Ghana, took a two-week break due to a health concern.

Her re-emergence with a message centered on unity and encouragement has been positively received by many on social media, who see it as a sign of her improving health and ongoing dedication to Ghana’s progress and collective well-being.
