Legendary actor and producer, Mr. Oscar Provencal, famed for his lead role in the Inspector Bediako television series, says private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu’s utterances in the ongoing saga between Lawyer Kpebu and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) are getting personal and should be checked.
According to Mr. Provençal, “the current ongoings between Martin Kpebu and the OSP have fueled the narrative that people are losing faith in the OSP.”
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, he said that although Martin Kpebu was right in defending himself, both parties have their own sides of the truth, and so if one side was lying, it would affect the narrative being put out.
Mr. Provençal added that he does not want to believe both the OSP and Martin Kpebu are fabricating stories, but it is getting serious to the point where the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, is calling for the abolishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The saga began when Lawyer Kpebu was arrested and detained by the OSP for allegedly obstructing an officer during a confrontation at the OSP premises. Mr. Kpebu, who has been vocal about his concerns regarding the OSP’s handling of corruption cases, claims the arrest was unjustified and reflects broader problems within the institution. The OSP, on the other hand, maintains that Mr. Kpebu’s actions were unacceptable and that the arrest was lawful.
