Covid-19: Greater Accra Security Council directs all beaches to remain closed

All beaches in the Greater-Accra Region are to remain closed before and during the Christmas and New Year festivities in the face of the rising cases of COVID-19.

The decision was taken at a Regional Security Council meeting, which was attended by stakeholders, including representatives of the Driver Unions, beach operators, event organizers and religious bodies.

The Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, said the Regional Security Council will ensure that no activity whatsoever is held at the beaches.

At the meeting, the Drivers’ Unions, agreed that passengers without nose masks will not be allowed to board commercial vehicles.

The meeting also decided that people must compulsorily wear masks in public places.
