Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources is embarking on a week-long benchmarking visit to the Republic of Rwanda as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s sanitation and water governance systems.
The delegation, led by the MP for Salaga South, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimiah, will be in Rwanda from 30th November to 6th December 2025. The study tour is aimed at equipping the Committee with practical insights into global best practices in sanitation management, environmental sustainability, and water resource governance.
During the visit, the Committee will hold engagements with key Rwandan government agencies and institutions overseeing sanitation, waste management, and water resources. Members are expected to observe first-hand the East African nation’s impressive achievements in urban cleanliness, community-led sanitation programmes, waste recycling, and environmental protection.
Rwanda is widely recognised as one of Africa’s cleanest and most environmentally progressive countries, making it a model for Ghana’s ongoing sanitation reforms.
The tour forms part of Parliament’s broader strategy to strengthen policy oversight and support national efforts aimed at improving sanitation systems and environmental health across Ghana.
