Peace Council condemns killing of 2 protesters at Ejura

The National Peace Council has condemned the upheaval that occurred at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

They have asked the relevant agencies to speedily conduct thorough investigations into the matter to ensure that the culprits are punished.

In a statement, Chairman of the Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi said it received the unfortunate report in the middle of a national stakeholder dialogue to chart a path to consolidate gains made beyond the 2020 elections.

It expressed grave concern that three Ghanaians have lost their lives in such violent unfortunate circumstances.

Additionally, the Council expressed appreciation to President Akuffo-Addo for directing the Minister for the Interior to conduct a public inquiry into the circumstances that led to the unfortunate occurrence.

It encouraged the proposed committee to work within the terms of reference.

The Council expressed deep condolences to the affected families and encourages all persons to exercise maximum restraint in their pronouncements.
