The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for shooting and injuring a traditional ruler during a funeral at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa, was arrested on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Police officers on duty reportedly heard a gunshot and quickly rushed to the scene, where they disarmed and arrested him.
According to the police, an unregistered single-barrel gun, loaded with ammunition, was retrieved from the suspect during the arrest.
The injured chief, from Adansi Dompoase, was taken to a health facility for treatment and has since been discharged.
Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court to face charges.
