The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has begun investigations into a daylight robbery incident that took place at Achimota on Monday, September 20.
According to the Regional Command, it received a distress call about the incident around 3 pm which was confirmed through its preliminary investigations that the robbers, two men on a motorbike, fired gunshots and made away with a cash amount of ¢29,000 from a 33-year-old woman who was returning from the bank.
A statement by the Public Affairs Unit said the police found evidence that a gunshot had been fired at the scene of the crime.
It adds that a bystander sustained gunshot wounds and was sent to the hospital and responding to treatment.
The statement urged the public to remain calm as the Police works to apprehend perpetrators of the crime.
It called on the public to support the command by providing relevant information that can lead to the arrest of the robbers.
