The Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi has sentenced three Nigerians to 10 years imprisonment for their involvement in multiple vehicle theft offences within the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested the suspects Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze—during a patrol operation targeting parked vehicles on June 20, 2025.

On July 22, 2025, the three appeared before the court. Russell Ekenze pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour. Friday and Agwazie pleaded not guilty and faced separate trials.

On July 23, 2025, Circuit Court 3 found Friday and Agwazie guilty on two counts each and handed them 8-year concurrent sentences. On the same day, Circuit Court 1 imposed an additional 20-year concurrent sentence on all three for related charges.
The following day, Circuit Court 2 convicted Ekenze again, adding another 10 years imprisonment with hard labour, also to run concurrently with the earlier sentence.
All three convicts are now serving their sentences at the Kumasi Central Prison.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command described the convictions as a significant step in the fight against organized and transnational crime, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The Command urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
