The Ghana Police Service has dismissed reports that narcotic exhibits intercepted in Sekesua, Eastern Region, have gone missing.
Police confirmed that all 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, seized on September 30, 2025, are intact and securely kept at the Eastern Regional Command.
The case involves a Kia truck (registration number ER-760-23), which was intercepted along the Sekesua road while transporting bags of dried substances concealed under sawdust. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the Sekesua Police Station, but the driver and his mate escaped custody and remain at large.
In a statement, the Service urged the public to disregard false reports that the exhibits had turned into sawdust, stressing:
“The impounded truck, as well as the 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, have been retained at the Eastern Regional Command.”
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched investigations into the conduct of officers involved in the case. Meanwhile, a manhunt is ongoing to re-arrest the suspects who absconded.
The Police Service reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in handling criminal cases, particularly narcotics-related matters, and assured the public of timely updates.
