The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has provided fresh updates on ongoing investigations into high-profile cases, including a gruesome murder in Kasoa and a robbery at Spintex.
Addressing the media at the CID Headquarters in Accra, the Director-General of CID, COP Lydia Donkor, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stressing that the public will continue to receive regular updates on matters of national concern.
Kasoa Murder Case
Police investigations have confirmed the arrest of Samuel Amoah, alias Biggie, in connection with the murder of three people at Tuba Net-Link Estates in Kasoa.
The incident, which occurred on May 19, 2024, claimed the lives of 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and two of her children. A third child survived with serious injuries, while a five-month-old baby was found unharmed inside the house.
A postmortem revealed that the victims died from severe head injuries caused by assault. According to police findings, Amoah — who was in a relationship with Alberta — attacked her and the children after a financial dispute turned violent.
After more than a year on the run, Amoah was arrested on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and expressed remorse. He remains in custody and will soon face murder charges in court.
Spintex Robbery Incident
The CID also announced progress in a robbery case that occurred on September 14, 2025, at Spintex, Accra. Armed robbers broke into the home of a 35-year-old man at dawn and made away with valuables, including jewellery, laptops, handbags, clothes, and cash amounting to US$5,000 and GH₵21,645.
Following swift intelligence-led operations, the police arrested Prince Opoku, alias Agyenkwa, and a Nigerian national, Jennifer Nweke, on September 18, 2025, at Adenta. Stolen items, including jewellery, mobile phones, and large sums of cash, were recovered during the arrest.
The suspects later led investigators to a hideout at Agbogba, where additional items belonging to the victim were retrieved. Opoku confessed his role in the robbery and named another accomplice, Mensah, alias Taller, who is currently on the run.
Police say efforts are ongoing to track down all accomplices. The two suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court.
The CID assured the public that all suspects involved in both cases will face justice, reiterating its commitment to professionalism and swift investigations.
