The Presidency says it erred in reducing the budgets submitted by the Judiciary and Parliament.

Last week, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin rejected letters from the President about the government’s decision to put a cap on the budget estimates of the two arms of government.

The Speaker warned that the House would block the approval of the 2021 budget if the Presidency did not do the right thing.

Mr. Bagbin read a communication from the Presidency which admitted the error in revising the budgets of Parliament and the judiciary.

By the new development, Parliament’s budget of more than 533 million cedis has now been cut by 10 million instead of the earlier 117 million cedis.

The judiciary’s figure of about 470 million cedis has been reduced by about 30 million cedis.

The Speaker directed the Special Budget and the Judiciary Committees to consider the estimates for approval.
