President Akuo-Addo pledges support for May 9 Foundation to cater for victims’ families

President Akufo-Addo has pledged government’s support for the May 9 Foundation, set up to seek the welfare of families of the May 9, 2001, stadium disaster victims.

President Akufo-Addo made the pledge when a delegation from the May 9 Foundation called on him at the Jubilee House.

He noted that the lost relatives cannot be revived but some measures could be taken to avert the recurrence. He commended the Foundation for keeping the memory of the victims alive, every year.

Former CEO of Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah, who is Founder of the May 9 Foundation noted that since the June 3 flood disaster, the focus of the group has been extended to cover the welfare of victims of other disasters.

He called on companies and individuals to support its course.

Mr.  Mensah announced that they are advocating that a High Court is dedicated to the adjudication of football-related hooliganism.
