Conveners of the group, Ashaiman Lives Matter, on behalf of residents who were brutally abused by some Military Personnel in Ashaiman have given the government a 24-hour ultimatum to release persons who are still in the custody of the Military.

According to them, although they are against the killing of the Military Officer, there is a need for the Police to take over the investigations as the law permits.

Addressing the media in Ashaiman, a Spokesperson for the Group, Emmanuel Kumadey, said the soldiers caused excessive damage to property and took custody of more than 400 residents to Burma Camp.

Mr. Kumadey called on the President to direct the Minister of Defense to pay for all the damages caused by the Military Personnel who invaded the town and compensate all the victims.

Some families who still have relatives in the custody of the Military shared their sentiments.
