President of the Road Contractors Association, John Afful, has attributed the root cause of road accidents to careless driving and not bad roads.
Commenting on the spate of road accidents in the country, where more than 20 lives were lost with others sustaining severe injuries in a road accident on the Offinso-Abofour road in the Ashanti Region this month , Mr. Afful advised drivers to practice what he described as defensive driving.
”Defensive driving is just to slow down because you don’t know what is ahead of you. So you don’t speed unnecessary and that is the way to drive defensively. There are other users of the road so that you are not the only one on the road to drive carelessly. Bad roads don’t cause accidents”, according to President of the Road Contractors Association John Afful.
