The General Officer Commanding, Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, says since the establishment of Services Integrity Savings and Loans Ltd. (SIS&L) in December 2016, it has demonstrated the right attitude and commitment to making a significant impact in the banking industry, living up to its motto of daring to be different.

He observed that the fact that the company has navigated the banking sector reforms successfully and continues to thrive is a testament to its strength and reliability.

Brigadier General Tei said the company has become a financial institution of choice for the Ghana Armed Forces. He was speaking at the opening of a branch of SIS&L at the 10 Mechanised Battalion in Wa.

Services Integrity Savings and Loans Ltd. (SIS&L) was established in 2016 with the primary objective of catering for the banking and financial needs of the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces. The Wa facility is the 8th operational branch of SIS&L, indicating the company’s steady growth and resilience in a sector that has recently faced significant challenges.

Brigadier General Tei touched on the welfare of  the company and called for the needed support for it to succeed.

“This institution aims to enhance the welfare of our officers, soldiers and Defence civilian employees, as well as you the civilians outside the military circle, to also have a stake in banking with SIS&L. Therefore, it is imperative that all military personnel, both serving and retired, various Units within the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Armed Forces as an institution support and patronise SIS&L. The success of SIS&L is inherently linked to our collective success,” he stated.

Brigadier General Tei added that: “The Military High Command is aware of proposal by management of SIS&L for the Ghana Armed Forces to consider channelling all official financial transactions through SIS&L. This is being considered by the Military High Command. This approach has been successfully implemented in countries like Rwanda, where the military bank caters to all the financial needs of its armed forces.

The GOC of Northern Command observed, “the Rwandan Military Bank, known as Zigama CSS Bank, is now the second-largest and most prosperous bank in the country, after the Central Bank of Rwanda. I must say that in the United States of America, they also have an armed forces bank, and most of our Asian countries have an armed forces bank. The core values of SIS&L, encapsulated in the name “Services Integrity,” resonate deeply with me. These values—integrity, professionalism, and innovation—position SIS&L to achieve the highest levels of honesty, financial propriety, and stakeholder satisfaction.”

Brigadier General Tei urged the Board and Management of SIS&L to continuously address the unique needs of Ghana Armed Forces personnel and civilian employees by developing products and services tailored in keeping with their needs.

The GOC of Northern Command was hopeful that SIS&L would flourish and become a leading financial institution in Ghana, contributing significantly to the socio-economic advancement of the citizenry.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mrs Lydia Maku Daddy, said the bank, since its inception, has stayed true to its vision and mission of becoming the primary financial institution for its customers and emphasised that SIS&L operates in a well-regulated framework by the Bank of Ghana.

She indicated that SIS&L, in its line of business, has complied with regulatory and statutory obligations, including data protection law. Mrs Maku Daddy said: “So for the soldiers, we owe it a duty to keep your confidentiality; your accounts are not for high command consumption, so you can feel safe and confident with us.”

A dance group, “Dagaaba Nuoriyen Bawaa Group,” performed at the event to add a traditional flavour to the occasion.
