Some residents of Old Ashongman (Pure Water) have expressed their displeasure about a building that is being constructed right on the spillover pond.

The spillover pond, which caters for excess water from the Aburi mountains, Ajangote Hills, and Atomic Hills, holds the water for a while and drains it into various outlets once the pressure recedes.

Unfortunately, now that the building has obstructed the course of the water, the water spills over into the nearby buildings, posing danger and havoc to lives and property.
Previously, the spillover pond served as a source of irrigation for residents, gardening purposes, and fishing, a favourite pastime of the youth. Now, all these functions have ceased.
