Executive Director of Happy Girl Project, an NGO, Awo Aidam Amenyah has called on stakeholders to help reduce the cost and access to sanitary products and devise strategies to tear down the stigma associated with menstrual period.

In a statement to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, Mr. Amenyah says statistics indicate that young girls and women would have spent about four thousand to six thousand dollars each year, due to the typical use of at least 3 to 5 pads a day, depending on their flow.

The Happy Girl Project is therefore asking for a reduction in taxes and levies on sanitary products to enable young girls to have access to them.
