The Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has strongly backed the government’s efforts to fight corruption, describing it as the biggest challenge facing the nation.
Speaking at the 2025 Asogli Women’s Day celebration, Togbe Afede expressed his admiration for the government’s “Operation Recover All Loots” initiative.
“Corruption has been the biggest challenge in our country, and that is what we have seen in our new government trying so hard to fight,” he said. “That is why I like the programme, Operation Recover All Loots, I love it.”
Togbe Afede stressed that corruption disproportionately affects the most vulnerable members of society, particularly women and children.

“When the people scramble for the little that is there, the most vulnerable in society are the ones who suffer. Therefore the women suffer, our children suffer, that is why I like the fight against corruption,” he added.
The traditional leader also praised the critical role women play in combating corruption.
“Women also have an important role to play in the fight against corruption, which I consider our most important problem. Women manage the house and define what we need,” he said.
This year’s Asogli Women’s Day celebration, part of the annual Teza (Yam Festival), was chaired by Ambassador Sena Siaw-Boateng and attended by dignitaries, political and traditional leaders, women’s groups, and members of the wider community. The theme was “Empowering Women for Inclusive Development.”
