Amid the tragedy that has befallen Ghana, President and Founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh, has expressed his profound sorrow over the recent military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of all eight persons on board.
Speaking in an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show, Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh urged Ghanaians to approach the situation with sensitivity and compassion, recognising the deep loss felt by families and the nation as a whole.
“People have lost their breadwinners, their loved ones, cherished family members, icons, and representatives of families. The nation itself is mourning. We should be very circumspect in our utterances during this time of grief,” he stated.
Dr Tetteh emphasised the importance of unity in mourning, reflecting on the personal impact of the tragedy. “Of the eight people who have died, I know seven of them personally. It could have been my team members or me. This is a very devastating situation that anyone can go through,” he revealed.
In his remarks, he extended his condolences to former President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, acknowledging the pain they are enduring. “I can imagine what His Excellency and Her Excellency are going through right now,” he said. “We should not use this occasion to score political points or display spiritual prowess.”
Dr Tetteh shared a poignant story to illustrate the unpredictability of life and the need for faith during difficult times. “Two boys who grew up together always believed that whatever happens is for good,” he recounted. “One became a king and invited his friend to celebrate. While preparing for a hunt, a tragic accident occurred where the king accidentally shot his own thumb.”
He concluded with a powerful message about faith and divine purpose: “As painful as it is, we must remember that only God can explain these events to us. For all you know, God knows exactly what He’s doing.”
