A joint effort by traditional councils, youth groups, and civil society organizations has brought a formal end to the escalation of the Bawku conflict in Bolgatanga and its surrounding areas. The announcement was made during a press conference on August 22, 2025, following a series of meetings and traditional rites aimed at restoring peace.
Led by the Tindaama, the Traditional Council engaged both factions in the Bawku conflict to unequivocally condemn the retaliatory killings and violent attacks that had occurred within the BONABOTO area as a direct consequence of the ongoing disturbances.
Both factions were firmly cautioned to immediately desist from engaging in any further retaliatory actions within the Bolgatanga Municipality and its surrounding communities.

A key part of the peace process was the performance of a traditional cleansing rite to purify the land of spilled blood. Both factions provided some items for the purification ceremony held at Tindanmolgo and Sokabiisi respectively. The purpose of these rites were to impress upon the factions the dire consequences of defying the call for peace.
In a final call for unity, the stakeholders advised both factions to “live as brothers and sisters in peace on the host land of Bolgatanga”. This marked the end of these engagements, with stakeholders expressing gratitude to the Traditional Council, Assembly men, youth groups, media, and civil society organizations for their support.
They also thanked both factions for appreciating their intervention and pledged to continue hosting everyone in the area as long as their hospitality is not taken for granted.
