The Ministry of Roads and Highways has raised concerns over the installation of an unauthorized billboard at the Flowerpot Interchange in Accra.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Ministry explained that the billboard was erected without approval and violates the Ghana Standards Authority’s regulations on outdoor advertising, as well as provisions in the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180).
The Ministry noted that the Students Loan Trust Fund has already distanced itself from the billboard after its logo appeared on it, warning the public against its unauthorized use.
To address the situation, the Ministry has directed the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly to work with the Department of Urban Roads for the immediate removal of the structure. It also urged all assemblies to consult relevant road agencies before issuing permits for roadside advertisements.
Additionally, the Ministry appealed to the Advertising Association of Ghana to enforce its code of conduct on outdoor advertising structures.
“The Ministry of Roads and Highways remains committed to ensuring road safety and protecting our road infrastructure for the benefit of all,” the statement concluded.
