Three communities in the Upper East and North East Regions have received 150, 000 cedis to implement poverty alleviation projects in their respective communities. Each community received fifty thousand cedis at a ceremony in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

Boko and Dagmweo in the Upper East Region and Karimenga in the North East Region are beneficiary communities of the LG Ambassador Challenge Programme – an initiative to reduce poverty in rural areas.

At a ceremony to hand over the package to the three communities, a representative from LG Electronics Ghana, Mr Thomas Moore Amoako, said beneficiary communities are expected to use their money to implement projects that will reduce poverty in their communities.

He said LG electronics will continue to help deprived communities in the country.

Out of 150 proposals received, Boko, Dagmweo and Karimenga communities were selected for the package.

Boko and Dagmweo communities were each given GH50,000.00 to engage in baking and weaving; and the Karimenga community was given GH50,000.00 to boost ecological farming in the area.

The Assemblyman for the Boko Electoral Area, Mr Michael Baba Awine, was grateful for the support. He said the projects in Boko and Dagmweo will help to reduce poverty in the two areas.

The Chief of Karimenga, Naba Saybeam Emmanuel Baam appealed to the beneficiary communities to use the monies judiciously.

Officials of LG Electronics said the success of the projects will serve as a guide to support other deprived communities in the country.
