President John Dramani Mahama has described the Volta Region as one of the cleanest regions in the country.
The President made the remarks at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Ho Oxygen City project in Ho, noting that the region’s clean environment, fresh air and orderly settlements justify the project’s name, “Oxygen City”.
He said the Minister of Local Government would soon roll out awards for the cleanest regions and districts nationwide, adding that the Volta Region stands a strong chance of winning based on its current sanitation standards.
“I dare say, arguably, the Volta Region is one of the cleanest regions in Ghana,” the President said.
President Mahama commended traditional authorities, local assemblies and residents for their commitment to environmental cleanliness, describing sanitation as a key factor in sustainable development and investment attraction.
He assured the people of the Volta Region of government’s commitment to planned and environmentally responsible urban development as part of the broader national development agenda.
The Ho Oxygen City project is expected to boost housing delivery, investment and infrastructure development in the region.
