The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply across the Tema Metropolis and several parts of Accra due to emergency repair works at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.
In a press release issued on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the company explained that damage to the raw water transmission pipeline that feeds the Kpong facility had forced an immediate shutdown of the plant. Engineers are currently undertaking urgent repair works expected to last three days.
During this period, affected communities will experience limited or no water supply. The areas impacted include Tema Metropolis, Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding areas.
GWL has urged residents to store enough water while limited supply remains available.
Meanwhile, the company has assured schools, hospitals, and other essential service providers of direct assistance during the outage.
GWL says water supply will be restored immediately after repairs are completed. The company apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation.
