World Vision Ghana and its microfinance partner, VisionFund Ghana, have distanced themselves from a fraudulent loan scheme being promoted under the name “World Vision Foundation Loan”.
In a statement, the organisations made it clear that World Vision Ghana does not provide loans of any kind and does not charge fees for its services. VisionFund Ghana, the only officially affiliated financial institution, also does not demand upfront payments.
According to the statement, individuals behind the scheme have falsely claimed ties to World Vision, promoting their activities through satellite television, social media, and other platforms. Several members of the public have reportedly been misled into transferring money based on these false claims.
To counter the spread of the scam, World Vision Ghana and VisionFund Ghana have launched a public awareness campaign under the theme “Our Identity; Our Integrity.” The initiative aims to educate the public about the fraud and prevent further cases.
The organisations are advising Ghanaians to verify any loan offers through official VisionFund Ghana channels, avoid sending money in advance for loan applications, and report any suspicious activity to both the police and the relevant institutions.
The matter has been referred to law enforcement, and formal notices are being issued to media outlets, particularly television channels, that have unknowingly aired the misleading advertisements. The two organisations are urging broadcasters to immediately cease airing such content and to assist in efforts to protect the public from misinformation.
