A petition against Supreme Court Justice Yonny Kulendi will not proceed after the Chief Justice advised that it does not establish a prima facie case. The President has communicated this finding to the petitioner.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the President acted in line with Article 146 of the Constitution by forwarding the petition to the Chief Justice for assessment.
According to the statement, the Chief Justice reviewed the petition and advised the President that the allegations did not meet the legal standard required to establish a prima facie case. Based on this advice, the President informed the petitioner that no further action would be taken.
This decision means the matter will not proceed to any formal investigation, as there was no sufficient legal basis to do so.
The petition accused Justice Kulendi of breaching judicial ethics by allegedly involving himself in issues related to the prosecution of his cousin. The complainant claimed that the judge interfered in proceedings at the High Court in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial, Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson and Two Others, even though he was not presiding over the case.
The petitioner argued that such actions violated provisions of the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates and could undermine public confidence in the independence and integrity of the judiciary.
However, following the Chief Justice’s assessment, the Presidency has clarified that the allegations do not warrant further legal action.
