The Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (CERPA), Mr. Ebenezer Amankwah-Minkah has stressed on the importance of youth empowerment as a strategic pillar for sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the National Emerging Leaders Economic Forum (NELEF) 2025 held at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) on Monday, September 22, Amankwah-Minkah indicated that empowering the youth is critical for every nation building.
“Youth empowerment is not a charity, it is a strategy that drives sustainable economic development.” During a very interactive panel discussion, the moderator posed a question: “How do we make it easier for young persons when they have ideas?”

He highlighted the significance of creating supportive environments for young innovators to thrive.
Addressing the audience, he warned against neglecting the youth, “If we don’t take care, we’ll be creating systemic issues which will come back to hurt all of us.” He illustrated this point by citing Rwanda’s successful youth strategy, which has been pivotal in their national development.
Mr. Amankwah-Minkah also addressed the qualities essential for effective leadership. “If you’re a leader and you’re not approachable, you’re not a leader in the first place. If you’re called a leader, then first and foremost, you’re for the people,” he said.
He stressed that true leadership involves drawing out the potential in others and being accessible to those you lead.
