President John Dramani Mahama has announced that companies operating multiple shifts under the government’s 24-hour economy initiative will enjoy key incentives, including duty-free import of machinery and fast-track port clearance within 24 hours.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 4, 2026, he said the policy is aimed at supporting businesses to expand production and boost industrial growth.
According to him, firms that register under the programme and operate round-the-clock will be allowed to import plant and equipment without paying duties, while their goods will also be cleared quickly at the ports to reduce delays.
The President explained that the initiative is designed to encourage more companies to scale up operations and improve productivity.
He added that Parliament will approve the incentives to ensure transparency and proper implementation.
President Mahama also urged businesses to adopt good corporate practices, including paying taxes and planning for succession to ensure long-term sustainability.
He further encouraged large companies to invest in smaller businesses through mergers and acquisitions to help them grow and contribute meaningfully to job creation.
The 24-hour economy policy forms part of broader efforts by government to create a stable and business-friendly environment to drive economic growth.
