President John Dramani Mahama issued an urgent call to African leaders during Kenya’s Jamhuri Day which is their 62nd Independence celebration. President Mahama demanded that, the continent should harness the creativity and energy of its youth to break free from economic dependency and build true prosperity.
He then complained about outdated global systems that trap Africa as the world’s a raw material supplier. “We face systems that make us suppliers of unprocessed raw materials and importers of finished products. The time has come to add value to Africa’s exports.”
He emphasized empowering the next generation as Africa’s greatest asset. “The time has come to find a solution for our situation, the fertility and energies of our young people,” Mahama said. He emphasized the need to increase trade amongst African countries.
He called for accountable leadership to drive this transformation. “The time has come to provide transparent and accountable leadership,”
