Akosua Agyeiwaa Memorial Municipal Teachers’ Awards: Prince Frimpong Emerges as Overall Best Teacher in Abuakwa South

A teacher at the Kibi State MA Basic School, Prince Frimpong, has emerged as the Overall Abuakwa South Municipal Best Teacher of the Year during the maiden edition of the Akosua Agyeiwaa Memorial Municipal Teachers Awards at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.

The Headteacher for Okanta Presby Basic School, Mesharck Okunnor, emerged as the first runner-up and the second runner-up went to a teacher at Kibi School for the Deaf, Alice Pinamang.

The awards were organized by the Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, to honor teachers and educational workers and managers who have distinguished themselves in various ways to promote quality education in the municipality in the year 2025.

The awards were organized in honor of the late mother of Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, Madam Akosua Agyeiwaa, who was an educationist and played a pivotal role in promoting quality education in the municipality.

Other awards include Best Kindergarten Teacher, Best Lower Primary Teacher, Best Upper Primary Teacher, Best JHS Teacher, Best Teacher in Second Cycle, Best Performing Teacher in Administration at the Basic School Level, and Best Performing Teacher in Administration Second Cycle Category.

The rest are Best Performing KG School, Best Performing Primary School, Best Performing JHS, Best Performing SHS, and Special Awards for Educational Stewardship, among others.

In her address, the Abuakwa South Municipal Education Director, Comfort Ofori-Appiah, commended Dr. Agyemang for the vital role he is playing in helping to promote the academic performance of students in the area. Mrs. Ofori-Appiah lauded the initiative by the MP to reward hardworking teachers and educational workers and managers in the municipality.

The MP for Abuakwa South Constituency, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang emphasized that the awards ceremony is a moment of reflection, appreciation and renewed commitment of the teaching profession.

He reiterated that behind every profession and leader, there is a teacher who believed, nurtured, encouraged, challenged, and served as a guide to such a person. He hinted that the awards are to reaffirm their belief and commitment that education is a powerful tool that transform society.

Each awardee received a double door fridge, laptop, a full piece cloth, a plaque, and a certificate. Meanwhile, the Municipal Best Teacher and the runners up received in addition to their packages, a 55, 43 and 32-inches television sets, an undisclosed cash and a weekend hotel relaxation.
