Management of Asanko Gold Ghana says the violent clashes that led to the death of one person on Tuesday September 9, 2025, involved a confrontation between military personnel and community members on the Company’s operating concessions in the Amansie South District of Ghana.
A statement issued by the company noted that the military presence forms part of the state-mandated security intervention, coordinated through the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
It explained that, tensions escalated within the local community, leading to civil unrest, an attack on the military camps and an invasion of the mining operational areas.
These events, according to the statement, led to a fatality and significant damages to contractor equipment.

It said the Company shares in the community’s grief over the tragic loss of life and extends its heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time and assured that
Asanko is working closely with local authorities, government officials, and community leaders to address the situation.
The statement noted that Asanko Gold remains committed to maintaining constructive dialogue with all stakeholders as investigations proceed and will provide further updates once investigations are complete.
