Another group of alleged Democracy Hub protestors numbering thirteen have been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.

The thirteen include a leader of the Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

The Judge, Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah ordered the Police to ensure that the accused persons are fed twice a day and given water as the prosecution claimed.

He also ordered that they provide medical care when needed.

Mr Obiri Yeboah also directed the Prosecution led by Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Prempeh to furnish the accused persons with all disclosures.

The remanded persons are part of the protestors arrested during the demonstration at the 37 Roundabout in Accra.

The thirteen accused persons are facing six counts of conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on a public officer and defacement of public notice.

The pleas of twelve have been taken and they all denied the charges.

One of them Fanny Otoo was absent and the Court has been previously informed that she is unwell and receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The accused persons will be back in court on October 8, 2024.

Reacting to the Court’s decision to remand the protestors, Private Legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu expressed disappointment.
